Band Performed for Constitution Day

ImageHAPPY BIRTHDAY, CONSTITUTION -- U.S. Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., and members of the WVU Mountaineer Marching Band share of moment of mutual admiration during a special celebration Friday in the nation's capital in observance of the U.S. Constitution. The "Pride of West Virginia" performed patriotic tunes and its traditional pre-game and halftime music during the program.

Byrd, who carries a copy of the Constitution in his breast pocket, is responsible for a new law requiring, among other things, that federally funded schools and colleges present a program or event on the nation's "law of the land" -- which was signed Sept. 17, 1787.
