If for some reason you are unable to attend the above audition dates, you can still audition - simply contact our office and discuss the possibility of setting up a personal audition on campus at an alternate time.  If you need to schedule a personal audition, you are encouraged to do so as close to the actual April 4th audition date as possible.  Most of the positions for the 2009 WVU Band will be filled on April 4th.

Percussionists:

There will be a "mini-camp" on Saturday April 4th and Sunday, April 5th, which will serve as the audition for the 2009 WVU Drumline. The hours of the camp will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, with breaks for meals.

*Those wishing to participate in this “Audition Mini-Camp” MUST contact the WVU Band Office at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call us at 304-293-4841 ext. 3154 to have an audition packet mailed to them. This packet will include the audition music and detailed information about the camp.

Note: Students are responsible for their own lodging, transportation and meals during the camp.  All students selected as members of the 2009 Drumline will be required to attend two weekend camps during the summer (one in June, and one in July).  All selected members will receive detailed information about these summer camps following the April auditions.  All Returning WVU Drumline members are required to re-audition.

All students interested in becoming a member of the WVU Drumline are strongly encouraged to attend the April 4-5 camp, as almost all spots in the 2009 line will be filled at this camp.  However, if you can not make it to this camp, you may still be able to audition. Please contact the WVU Band Office to discuss an alternate audition plan - IF there are any spots still available.

COLORGUARD AND TWIRLER REQUIREMENTS:
    Colorguard (for new and returning members):

There will be a "mini-camp" on Saturday April 4th and Sunday, April 5th, which will serve as the audition for the 2009 WVU Colorguard. All prospective members - returning or new - will be required to attend both days.  The hours for Saturday are 9:00 a.m. until approximately 5:00 p.m. Anyone interested in Rifle should be prepared to stay also from 7-9 p.m. for a Rifle/Weapons Clinic.  The hours for Sunday (prospective new members only) are 9:00 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m. (including a lunch break).

Note: Students are responsible for their own lodging, transportation and meals during the camp. All those auditioning will be taught the basic fundamentals of the WVU Colorguard, as well as a short routine.  Everyone is asked to wear a solid white t-shirt or tank, with black shorts or black jazz pants for audition attire. Also, everyone should wear tennis shoes (preferably dance shoes if you have them).

All those interested in becoming a member of the WVU Colorguard are strongly encouraged to attend the April 4th and 5th mini-camp; however, if you can not make it, we still want you to audition!!!  Simply contact our office to discuss an alternate audition plan.  All Returning WVU Colorguard members are required to re-audition.

    Feature Twirler(s):

The audition for the Feature Twirler(s) is a two-step process which includes submitting a video tape (with a deadline of March 2nd) and then being invited to audition at the May 3rd date.  Those interested individuals MUST contact the WVU Band Office for information regarding criteria and deadlines that are different from the other band auditions.

Please note that there will NOT be any alternative date to the May 3rd auditions for Feature Twirler(s). Returning WVU Feature Twirlers are required to re-audition.
